Watching a loved one destroy themselves though an addiction is both heartbreaking and frustrating. The nature of addiction is such that attempts by friends and family members to help the addict often fail to fix the problem and frequently drive the addict farther away. Families are then caught in a seemingly unsolvable puzzle, unable to help but unable to bear watching their loved one slowly kill themselves.
